Electron Tubes

Components for electron tubes Electron tubes are still playing a dominant role in the transmission of radio and television signals. However, new transmitting systems below 10 kW are increasingly equipped with semi-conductor components. But for the retrofit of existing systems as well as for high performance, electron tubes still are the first choice. And there is also an increasing demand for industrial use as high-frequency generators for furnaces and coating systems. High temperatures resulting from the operation of electron tubes call for the use refractory metals such as molybdenum and tungsten.

PLANSEE supplies:

  • Components and carrier systems for cathode tubes made of molybdenum and tungsten

Cathode Ray Tubes

Television images are generated by the cathode-ray tube, transmitting electron beams to the screen. With the new 100 Hz-technology, in 16:9 TV-sets and high-definition television (HDTV), these parts are exposed to strain, making the use of refractory metals necessary.

PLANSEE supplies:

  • Refractory metal components for cathode-ray tubes, such as: cathode cups, inner sleeves, etc., made of Ta, Mo or Mo47Re
  • Ribbons as raw material for the production of these components
  • Porous W-cathodes, infiltrated with barium-aluminate
