Head Office.

Head Office, Reutte in the Tyrol In 1921, Dr. Paul Schwarzkopf founded Metallwerke Plansee in the Tyrolean town of Reutte where a workforce of 20 employees started to produce molybdenum and tungsten wire for the lighting industry: this venture was to mark the start of a now 90-year-old success story. Since 1921, both the variety of products and the number of employees have grown significantly. The Reutte site is now the Plansee Group's head office. A large proportion of the production activities as well as all the central services are located here.

In Reutte, we cover the entire production chain from the manufacture of the powder through to the machining of finished products ready for installation. Alongside plant for the production and machining of refractory metals, we also operate state-of-the-art coating systems and analytical equipment. Around 90 % of the semi-finished products processed by PLANSEE worldwide start life in Reutte.

More than 1 000 employees work on tailor-made products for our customers, manufacturing, for example, interconnects for environmentally friendly fuel cell technology, sputtering targets for the production of solar cells or high temperature-resistant components for the fabrication of energy-efficient LEDs. Many developments pioneered here in the Tyrol have gone on to become a global success.

We place great emphasis on research and development. At its headquarters, PLANSEE employs some 150 materials scientists and developers who develop new materials solutions for our customers..

Ever since 1952, Reutte has been the meeting place for the Who's Who of powder metallurgy who convene to attend the Plansee Seminar. This takes place every four years and is one of the world's most important platforms for exchanges of ideas and information between pioneers from industry and research.
