HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing)
Hot isostatic presses operate at high temperatures (up to 2000°C) and high gas-pressures (100 – 200 MPa).

PLANSEE manufactures components for the HIP furnace, which is mounted inside the pressure vessel. These include heating elements as well as supporting and insulating cylinders made from molybdenum or TZM. Additional components are used for gas introduction and rapid cooling.

- Densification of castings for automotive and aerospace industries
- Densification of sintered metallic and ceramic components for aerospace, automotive industry or medical implants
- Consolidation of hardmetal tools
- Diffusion bonding of dissimilar materials, predominantly for tooling (extrusion, punches, dies)
