MIM (Metal Injection Moulding)
During the sintering stage of metal injection moulding (MIM) temperatures of up to 1400°C are typical. Binder removal and frequent need to operate under partial pressure (hydrogen, argon, nitrogen) places demands on several features of the furnace design, in order to achieve the required temperature uniformity and to prevent contamination of the work-piece.
To this belong the gas-introduction system, the use of sealed MIM-boxes and the distribution of the heating elements. Both batch furnaces and pusher furnaces are used according to production quantities and quality requirements.
Main Fields of Application:
- Sintering of MIM components in steels, Fe-Ni, Ti and other materials
- Production of components for the watch industry, medical technology, implants, weapons manufacturing, textile industry, electronic devices, automotive industry etc.
The PLANSEE Product Range:
- Development, design and production of complete hot zones for new and existing furnaces, including co-operation with the furnace manufacturer.
- MIM boxes and gas-introduction systems
- Manufacture of furnace furniture such as base plates, charge carriers, sintering boats and stacking sheets with spacers in molybdenum, TZM and MLR
- Manufacture of furnace components (heating elements, heat shields, charge racks and accessories) in molybdenum- and tungsten-based materials
- Spare parts, small parts and semi-finished products (plates, sheets, rods, wires)
