Stirrers for Homogenising and Portioning
Stirring tools made of molybdenum are used both for the homogenising and for the portioning of glass melts. In addition we offer highly creep resistant stirrer shafts made of TZM and MoW.
In many cases the stirrers are either completely or partially clad with Platinum. These metal stirrers offer the following advantages compared with conventional ceramic stirrers:
- Better stirring effect due to unlimited geometrical design possibilities
- Higher mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance
- No contamination of the glass melt
- Longer service life
Compared with hollow platinum stirrers, stirring tools from PLANSEE offer the following advantages:
- Lower investment costs
- Higher strength
Advantages:
- One source from the semi-finished part right through to the diffusion protection barrier
- Economical manufacture due to the in-house production of pre-material
- Outgas tested pre-material
- Testing for cracks by means of ultrasound and die penetrant tests
- Outgas certificate available upon customer request
- Comprehensive advice and a wide range of available material and stirrer design solutions
- Availability of computer modelling and subsequent design optimisation
