The lifetime of a glass melting tank is one of the most important cost factors for the production of glass. Reinforcements from PLANSEE contribute to lengthening the tank campaign significantly and therefore have a decisive influence on the how economical the glass melting equipment is.
 |
In many types of glass molybdenum exhibits a much better corrosion resistance to molten glass than refractory bricks. For this reason it is possible to protect the bricks in the heavy wear areas (e.g. doghouse, crosswall, throat, etc.) against glass corrosion with Mo plates. |
Thanks to this reinforcement, the bricks retain their original geometry, which leads to an improvement in the glass quality and a significant lengthening of the campaign.
Since the Mo parts are installed in a cold tank, oxidation protection must be ensured during the up-tempering phase.
 |
PLANSEE developed the SIBOR® coating for this purpose – the only coating, which guarantees 100% protection against oxidation until the parts are completely immersed in molten glass. |
Another possible way to lengthen the campaign is to use L-shaped Mo plates cast into the AZS bricks. The company REFEL together with PLANSEE AG offers this option.
In addition floor drains, pipes and plates with and without SIBOR® coating are available in a great variety of designs for installation in a tank.
PLANSEE supplies:
- SIBOR® coated Mo tank reinforcements to protect AZS bricks against glass corrosion
- Mo L-shaped plates to strengthen AZS bricks as patented by the company REFEL
- Sintered Mo flow pipes and delivery tubes with and without SIBOR® coating
- Mo floor drains and channels with and without SIBOR® coating
