Implants / Stents

Exclusively bio-compatible materials can be used for the manufacture of implants (e.g. casing components for implantable hearing aids or pacemakers). Due to their extraordinary corrosion resistance, tantalum and its sister metal niobium meet these requirements. In addition they are very resistant to stress and continuously alternating strains under corrosive body conditions, and stand out with their very high elasticity.

PLANSEE supplies:

  • Components for accident surgery, such as plates and screws made of Ta or Nb
  • Ta - wire for stents
