Impressing result seen after shut down of a glass tank
[26/11/2007]
Molybdenum glass tank reinforcements with SIBOR oxidation protection coating were introduced to the glass industry by PLANSEE several years ago. The reinforcements for doghouse, bubble maker, cross-wall and throat channel protect the AZS bricks from heavy corrosion by the glass melt.
A throat channel protection in a flour opal glass tank has shown an incredible result after the shutting down of the tank. The installed sheets which have been removed still showed the original thickness of 8 mm.
This again has prooven the excellent corrosion resistance of molybdenum in glass melts. The rebuilt glass tank was again equipped with a PLANSEE throat channel protection and is now sucessfully in operation again.
In total PLANSEE has delivered more than 60 glass tank reinforcements world wide. Most of them are still successfully in use.
