On the Trail of Future Energy Trends: PLANSEE at international EGT congress
[05/11/2009]
Under the motto „Power Engineering – Key Technology from Europe” the International EGT Congress in Düsseldorf / Germany provided an important platform for questions relating to tomorrow’s energy policies. And participating as an important supplier in the industry: PLANSEE High Performance Materials. With their components for power transmission and distribution the company contributes decidedly to an efficient energy supply for the future.
Experts at the EGT Congress are in agreement: In addition to an appropriate energy mix with renewable energy sources, a continued expansion of the power grids is needed. The demands upon the industry with regard to energy efficiency, as well as capacity and stability of the supply grid are increasing significantly. Power electronics at the highest level are in strong demand.
PLANSEE semiconductor base plates made of molybdenum are utilised in thyristors, GTO's and performance diodes. The advantage of molybdenum: its coefficient of thermal expansion is similar to the one of silicon. For its semiconductor base plates PLANSEE offers special coatings with precious metal. They offer optimal protection against corrosion and oxidation and they are the basis for an optimal compound with the semiconductor. The result: reliability and long-life for a sustainable energy supply.
