Smallest amounts of potassium make tungsten dimensionally and temperature stable. Our employees Andreas Hoffmann and Ingmar Wesemann have researched this topic very closely and so contribute to the fact that tungsten can withstand temperatures of up to 3100°C. For example in modern Xenon- short arc lamps for digital cinema projectors.
The detailed research results on the topic of potassium doped tungsten were submitted by PLANSEE at the International Conference on Tungsten, Refractory & Hardmaterials. The content convinced even high-ranking experts. After a competitive selection process, the report was awarded the Best Paper Award 2011.
One more example that we, as market leader in high-melting metals, are also on the cutting edge in the further development of “our materials”. We congratulate the award winners of the Best Paper Award 2011.
