For high voltage applications up to 1200 kV PLANSEE supplies arcing contacts made of WCu. These ready-to-install components are used in SF6 open air switches, gas-insulated SF6 switches, as well as generator switches.

In the heart of the breaking chamber they have to withstand extreme mechanical and thermal stresses: Temperatures of several thousand degrees Celsius on the surfaces for fractions of a second.
