CuCr contact materials: Peak performance for medium voltage.

The distribution of electrical power for industrial and public consumption is carried out in the medium voltage range from 1kV to 72,5 kV.

With its ready-to-install contact systems for medium voltage PLANSEE fulfills the requirements on materials for circuit breakers: In the upper voltage ranges, short-circuit currents of up to 63 kA need to be handled and contactor bottles are expected to provide a service life of one million switching cycles.

For the vacuum switching technology PLANSEE has developed contact materials based on Copper-Chromium (CuCr). They have become the industry standard for medium voltage switches and especially stand out or their high current breaking capacity and the dielectric strenght of the open contact gap.
