TIG Welding Electrodes

Tungsten electrodes with their extremely high melting point are used for TIG welding. Although thorium is a radioactive element, which if inhaled represents a risk to the welder, thoriated welding electrodes are still the most commonly used worldwide.

Nevertheless non-radioactive replacement materials for thorium oxide, such as the elements cerium and lanthanum, have proved to be suitable alloying additions for tungsten electrodes.
Thorium-free TIG-welding electrodes such as WC20 and more recently GOLDplus have been further developed for decades at PLANSEE in order to meet market requirements from an ecological point of view.

TIG-welding electrodes

TIG electrodes from PLANSEE guarantee constant high quality and reproducible results during welding and are available ex-stock in various grades and sizes from PLANSEE EXPRESS.

A special TIG selector is available to help determine the optimum welding parameters.
