Successes that take root
Every two years, Plansee, a business area of the Plansee Group, invites around 200 international sales employees to the two-day Plansee Sales Meeting in Reutte. At this event, special achievements are honored - since 2023 no longer with trophies, but with trees. Once again this year, climate-resistant leaf and needle trees are planted, which find a new home in protection forest at lake Plansee.
"Our colleagues from all over the world look forward to come to Reutte every time - not only because of the meeting, but also because of the impressive nature. That's why we deliberately combine this event with local projects. We are proud to once again be part of this important reforestation campaign," emphasizes Andreas Feichtinger, Managing Director at Plansee.
Responsibility for the region and the environment
The aim of the initiative is to make Tyrolean mountain forests more resilient to the consequences of climate change. Monocultures, which are increasingly suffering from drought and pest infestation, are replaced by species-rich mixed forests. Plansee is supporting this project together with the Tyrolean Forestry Directorate, the municipality of Breitenwang, the agricultural community and the Klimafitter Bergwald Tirol initiative. Tree species that contribute to the long-term stability of the mountain forest are planted, including swiss pines, larches, sycamore maples and beeches. The 7,500 young trees will be professionally cared for and protected from wildlife browsing for the first ten years so that they can grow into a new protective forest.
"As a globally active company, it is essential for us to support projects in our immediate vicinity that benefit the region - not only to protect our infrastructure, but also to contribute to local safety and quality of life," emphasizes Ulrich Lausecker, Managing Director at Plansee. "We take responsibility - for the environment, for the region and for future generations."
Sustainability as a central component of the corporate strategy
The company has set itself the goal of reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions in the areas of Scope 1 and 2 by 75% by the 2030 financial year compared to the base year 2020. Targeted measures have already reduced emissions by more than 20 percent compared to 2020 - clear evidence of the consistent path that Plansee has taken in terms of sustainability.
