Plansee presents thin-film materials at the Touch Taiwan

From all over the world, experts for displays come together at the Touch Panel and Optical Film Exhibition in Taiwan at the end of August. Plansee presents sputtering targets for UHD displays and touch screens.

More and more displays do not only support high definition but also ultra-high definition. This means they have a 8K resolution and transmit images at widths of up to 8000 pixels. To guarantee this resolution, ultra-pure thin-film materials are required. These are applied to the backside of the displays using the magnetron sputtering process. Fine conductor paths, for example made out of molybdenum, then control the colours of the individual pixels. If the material is not absolutely pure you literately look on the black side. Because this makes whole pixels fail. To avoid this scenario, Plansee supplies molybdenum targets at a guaranteed purity of 99.97%. With 99.99% as a general rule our targets are even purer than this. With its ultra-pure thin-film materials Plansee guarantees that really every pixel shines in all its splendour.

Displays do not only convince with an increasingly better picture quality but also with their ability to be operated directly and intuitively with your fingers. A touch panel must provide high definition and at the same time it has to stand extreme conditions. Over all it has to be resistant to sweat and high humidity. Therefore the purity of the material plays an even more important role. This is why Plansee not only offers molybdenum targets but also molybdenum tantalum targets. This alloy is ultra-pure and extremely corrosion-resistant, so it keeps its maximum electrical conductivity.

We deliver sputtering targets in all common sizes. Depending on your coating system we supply rotary and planar targets. Plansee performs every stage of the production process in-house: from the raw material trough to the bonding of the targets in one of our Asian bonding shops. Beside the flawless production our service is distinguished by a close cooperation with our customers and the development of individual solutions. “If customers want to realize new projects or have special demands on new products we are delighted to develop solutions together”, says Harald Selb, Head of Market Unit Display & Solar. So our product portfolio increases steadily: for example we also supply targets made out of tungsten, titanium or copper. Visit us at the Touch Taiwan and learn more from our experts about Plansee sputtering targets. Not only our local partners from Taiwan, China and Japan will be there but also our developers from our Plansee headquarters in Austria.
