CIGS-cell layers In the October/November edition of "Vakuum in Forschung und Praxis", you can find comprehensive information about the metallic sputtering targets used in the production of CIGS photovoltaic modules. In their article, our employees Dr. Christoph Adelhelm, Dr. Jörg Winkler, Christian Linke, Enrico Franzke and Dr. Harald Köstenbauer explain the powder metallurgical process used to manufacture molybdenum sputtering targets and the materials properties that result from it. Our experts also present the target materials molybdenum-sodium (MoNa) and copper-gallium (CuGa). Using MoNa targets, it is possible to dope CIGS absorbers with very small, precisely measured amounts of sodium while the uniform microstructure of CuGa targets manufactured using powder metallurgical processes permits the production of particularly homogeneous absorber layers.
