Strong tungsten alloy for the foundry industry.

The Aalen Foundry Colloquium, hosted by Aalen University in Germany on the 7th and 8th of May, was all about innovations in die casting.

Some 250 experts had the opportunity to talk about things like new research projects, standardized manufacturing methods and the use of special alloys in the casting process. Our materials expert Dr. Johannes Schröder was there and presented our DENSIMET® products designed for use in aluminum casting inserts:

Thanks in particular to its high thermal conductivity, one use of the tungsten alloy Densimet® is for cooling inserts in molds for engine blocks. This dramatically reduces cycle times and it even becomes unnecessary to make use of complex ancillary cooling. Participants from the automotive industry in particular were very interested in the benefits and potential applications of Densimet®.
