PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings have paved the way for numerous technologies over the last half-century and have become an indispensable part of industrial manufacturing. Hard coatings have been used on cutting tools such as hobbing cutters, milling cutters, and indexable cutting inserts for more than 40 years to improve the wear resistance of these tools.
To see where the future of targets for hard material and component coatings is heading, it is important to first take a look at the current situation and how we got here. Paul Rudnik, Sales & Marketing Manager at Plansee USA, will be doing just that in a presentation at this year's SVC TechCon event.
Attendees will also be given an insight into the importance and application of PVD coatings in various sectors as well as the continual improvement of coatings, whether that be through new compositions or new architectures. According to Paul J. Rudnik, the cooperation between manufacturers of targets and industrial users plays a decisive role here. Without this collaboration, progress would often not be possible – especially when it comes to the development of new products.
The presentation will provide a detailed understanding of the PVD processes and their effects as well as granting insights into the future possibilities in the use of targets for hard material and component coatings. It will take place on May 8, 2023, during the SVC TechCon in Washington, D.C., USA.
