The 50th ICMCTF took place from May 19 to 24, 2024 in San Diego, USA. The International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films is the leading conference in the field of thin film deposition, characterization, and advanced surface technology. In the Grand Exhibit Hall on Stand 420 we showcased to our customers a selection of our sputtering targets and arc cathodes for hard coating, which are characterized by the highest material purity, high density, and a fine-grained microstructure.
Fascinating poster presentations, scientific talks, and many further interesting discussions took place at our booth over the course of the event. We would like to thank all customers who visited us at the ICMCTF. We are already looking forward to attending again in 2025.
Plansee's goal is to develop PVD target materials that give customers real competitive advantages. As the world market leader, we are a reliable partner for the manufacture of sputtering targets and arc cathodes. Our global sales network guarantees the availability of our products and provides expert, local service for customers. Continuously investing in in-house production enables us to offer a high degree of flexibility, availability, and quality.
By partnering with industry experts and scientists when developing new technologies, we set standards in the industry and ensure that coating solutions will continue to be developed for growth markets the world over. Our expertise in powder metallurgy forms the basis for all our activities. The PVD coating solutions we develop with our customers are based on target materials like chromium, titanium, aluminum, zirconium, copper, tungsten, molybdenum, composites and their alloys as well as ceramic materials such as boride and carbide. Plansee offers all target materials from this range in every OEM target version.

The key symposia topics for Plansee included:
Sustainable surface engineering was the specific focus of the topical symposia at ICMCTF 2024. New approaches to the sustainable development of surface engineering were presented in the form of coatings for batteries, hydrogen applications, solar thermal energy conversion, thermoelectric energy conversion, and (photo) electrocatalysis as well as circular strategies for surface engineering.
